Patoranking released his debut studio album “God Over Everything” on the 1st of August. As expected, the album is based on his style of music which is; Reggae (Reality/Positive Music); but with a perfected blend of Africa’s most popular genre: AfroBeat.
The album features two Jamaican top dancehall/reggae artists “Elephant Man” and “Konshens”. Also featured on the album is Legendary Fuji maestro “King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 (KWAM 1)”; with the likes of Phyno, Olamide, and Billboard chart topping Nigerian artist – WizKid.
Speaking on reality, Patoranking revisited the message he passed on when he released ‘My Woman, My Everything’. Starting the album with a prayer by a Lady (maybe his Mum). Making it clear that PRAYER is the most important thing in our daily life. He titled the track PATORANKING
What better way can you make an album but by connecting the next track to the previous. That, is what Patoranking did with the next track “G.O.E” (acronym for God Over Everything), elaborating the previous single. Explaining that God should be placed above all.
No Cheating Zone, a perfect example of what a positive music is. Patoranking went off his way to tell ladies to be loyal to their man. Simply telling them to stay off the Cheating Zone.
The fourth track on the album – Money featuring Phyno. Here, Patoranking & Phyno reflected on their past and they both left a strong message which I understand as: there is always light at the end of the tunnel. As long as you dey hustle, and you put God Over Everything, Money go find you.
Produced by E-Kelly,Killing Me is blended with the African sound. A love tune well laced with the Nigerian Highlife feel. You can’t help but love this one.
How ‘bout taking things up a notch on This Kind Lovewith someone whose music is partly (if not mostly) influenced by contemporary reggae artist “Sizzla”. Featuring WizKid on a Sarz produced beat. What more can you expect but a joy filled tune. Patoranking together with Wiz, made one of the best love songs you may have missed. But, it’s not too late to listen to it.
“Writing On A Wall” like the song is titled, is a simple explanation of Patoranking’s present situation, and possibly what his future holds.
Forever is another feel good tune that can’t be ignored from the album. If love is a genre of music, it will be filed under Reggae. Patoranking, once again exhibited his always positive side with the love song titled “Forever”.
Afrobeat all-the-way with Ghanaian superstar Sarkodie. “No Kissing Baby;” was a snippet of the album as it was the first and only single released before August 1st, 2016. The feel good tune is perfect for a turn-up. It preaches love and also encourages men to respect the decision of ladies. PS: [If You no give I no go take oh]. #SayNoToRape
The popular music genre in Ajegunle Lagos State, Nigeria, Galala/Konto is one of the few genres birthed by Reggae. On Mama Aboyo, Patoranking recruited the VOTS (Voice Of The Street) – Olamide to take his music back to the Lagos street. Making it clear he grew up on-the-streets of Lagos.
Starting the song with the Latin hymn “The Lord’s Prayer (PATER NOSTER);” Patoranking makes it clear that spirituality is another thing that can’t be omitted whenever “Reggae Music” comes into play. A Rastafarian, loves whatever or whoever gives him/her joy, and he plays his part as he pronounces his love for a Stammerer.
Track 12 is one of the standout tracks on the album. The track speaks on the the kind of world Patoranking resides in. Special tune for his fans, friends, and family –even dam babylon will enjoy this wan–. How about a warm welcome into his world “Love Town”?
Hale Hale is yet another solid tune that somehow found its way on the album as Patoranking stated that he thought he was done with the G.O.E album already. You’re going to love this one.
Beautiful reminds me of Busy Signal’s “Comfort Zone (Acoustic Remix)” smooth, heart warming and whatever positive thing that comes to your mind when you think about love.
Blow dem horns as Patoranking takes it up a notch with the legendary Elephant Man and the “To Her With Love” & “Gal A Bubble” crooner – Konshens, for the remix of Daniella Whine. A perfected dancehall tune for the club.
An overwhelming album created with Reality, Love, Positivity, and the African vibe but Patoranking wasn’t pleased till the King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 (KWAM 1) eulogized him. The track’s title Ayinde, is an Oríkì (a panegyric/eulogy) name in Yoruba Land. Patoranking paid homage and received homage from the Legendary Fuji act. Honestly, this, is the album carrier, the chariot of fire you need to see so as to receive the anointing this album carries.
God Over Everything is one of the best reggae albums released in Nigeria lately. If you’re not familiar with the Reggae vibe, this album is for you as it blends both Reggae and Afrobeat.
The album preaches LOVE.
PS: God is Love. #GodOverEverything
